so this week I used the film "Black Swan" as my inspiration and these 5 designs are the end result I hope you like them also when you have some new inspiration for me ... just leave a comment or write a note ;D
So this work, like all your other fashion designs, is gorgeous. If I ever become famous I would want you to design all my red carpet looks.
Now on to the art (and please, take everything with a grain of salt because I'm not a professional or anything). I really like that you kept the color palette and the model consistent throughout. This looks like a definitive collection and could be presented as such. I also love that her personality (witty, sharp, strong) comes through as the girl who would wear this collection. The texture of the cloth is gorgeous, especially the dress in the middle which looks just like velvet to me. The orange is an interesting accent color - it's cool because it's not expected with the collection or the inspiration. The typical choice would have been red, but the orange works in a way that's not Halloween-y.
There isn't much I don't like about the piece, but I would have liked to maybe see a piece of the collection that was separates. However, I understand that the idea was to be romantic and swan like. My least favorite outfits are the ones on the far left and far right. You could have done without so many feathers, which are a bit literal. I also feel like I've seen the cropped front long back cut on the far left and in the center in your collections before. They're gorgeous dresses, but I would have left out the one on the left and just kept the one in the center. It's more dramatic and prettier to look at.
Other than that, it's amazing as is all your stuff. Keep up the great work!
So I absolutely love the idea of the Black Swan theme: definitely one of my favorite movies, but I didn't see as many influential themes in the clothes as I would've liked. The orange and black juxtaposition is really nice and bold, but 1) kind of reminds me of Halloween o_O and 2) isn't that related to Black Swan. XD I know that imitating something completely isn't good or original, but I don't think I could've really guessed they were black swan, for the most part. I think I would've preferred another color like purple or blue for the 3rd color.
Individual: 1. I'm not going to comment on the whole orange thing here, but I LOVE the corset like bodice of the top. The buttons definitely give it a kind of badass look, which seems apropos to the whole Black Swan thing. The feathers on the hips also add to the whole dark, evil appeal. Overall, I really like this one.
2. Definitely my favorite!!! I love the sheer chiffon-like material draping from the skirt; it reminds me of the curtains on a stage. :3 The skirt also has the tutu influences, being puffy and voluminous. Here, you can tell it's Black Swan themed with the wings and whatnot. I REALLY love how you did the grey-ish colored wings, and how she has a hood over her head. It seems to be more conflicted, as if she's trying to resist the Black Swan inside (if that makes sense). The black neckpiece gives an illusion of almost strangling her, and I love the conflict apparent in this deviation. ^^
3. This dress seems to exude rockstar appeal. The hand helps too, . This isn't my favorite, but the long "train" reminds me of those evil queens who have the long robes and walk all regally (think the queen from Disney's Snow White), so that adds to the whole evil appeal. LOVE the shoes though; I would totally wear them!! The hair piece is lovely, though I'm not a huge fan of the belt-like thing of fluff around her waist. :/ Overall, although it doesn't have many Black Swan themes (in my opinion), it's a well done piece.
4. This reminds me of an Alexander McQueen piece I saw at the Met!! <3 Its got the whole skirt wrapping around thing, going from short to long, but his was like Balsa wood panels, and this is MUCH more wearable. (; The ankle boots and belt are really nice, and give it a more casual feel. The decision to add black tights/leggings was really good; the black and white juxtaposition is really nice and bold! I think the hair adds to the appeal here: its drapy and the long pieces that fall in front of her face, in addition to the giant poof, give the illusion that she's hiding. well done! This one has more Black Swan themes as well, with the conflict. You really demonstrated the inner turmoil of the White Swan in both white pieces!
5. lovelovelove this one! It's got that dark, evil red-carpet appeal. Kind of like the queen bee I love the mermaid train/dress, which highlights the figure. The poof at the end of the mermaid dress (err idk what it's called) is VERY spiky XD and dramatic. Again not a fan of the orange, but the whole spikes works The poofs on top of her shoulders are AMAZING. They remind me of the Burberry trenches? If you know what I mean...the ones with the metal studs and spikes. :3 The neckpiece really elongates the figure, and gives her the whole "stare" thing going on. The head piece is lovely too; the spikes remind me of an evil crown of some sort.
Overall, I loved the pieces, but didn't see too much of the Black Swan themes in them. :/ They definitely (I think I used this word a lot! ><) had the whole dark/light conflicts and themes, but I would've liked to see more ballet influences also. So, ranking of favorite to less favorite. ^^ 1st: no. 2; 2nd: no 1; 3rd: no. 5; 4th: no. 4; 5th: no. 3
(Sorry this was so long LOL XD But it is a beautiful deviation ^^)
~TheAnimeotakufreak's sister XD (I think we had a conversation in the past; she is more anime (duh) and I'm more into fashion. ^^)
Everything is really modernized and foward-looking. I could imagine tons of different celebrities wearing this dress. I think beyonce would particularly like the furthest one on the right. I also love you you style all your models. Their hair goes perfectly with the dress that they're wearing. All these dresses and models have different personalities, but they somehow work together....
These are so beautiful, but I can't help feeling like these dresses are more Halloween-ish then inspired by a shadowy but graceful black swan... especially the first (from the left to right) and the last dress.
4th is my fav- I'd wear the crap out of that!! It's just my style. Shoes=gotta have!! I've never seen blk/orange look so lovely. I think it's that hint of red in it that makes it pop. Each one is different but the collection is unified with the simple details. Great job as always.
Okay I enjoy this piece especially the use of color and texture. I like the textures and stuff and it shows the depth in the designs and how much you've learned in such a short time.
I think some of the dresses could be toned down little like a little less poofy however they maintain hauty femine appeal so good job on that, so guess you can't really do anything about that. I'm not so big on the hair on this one, especially the 4th one. I'd like to see a tradition ballerina bun, cause well it's fitting but maybe to much of a given.
I would've also liked to see a just white and just black dress, though I'm going off the ballet and not the movie it's self so that could be wrong.
Okay shoes are great, I have to say the first dress is my favorite. Id like to see the two side views from the front. I think the second dress you have to much going on it's a little cluttered. I like the skirt with the gauze hanging down, and I like wings, are they part of jacket cause that would be cool. Middle one is good, as the critique said looks like velvet, amazing shoes, (want, want, want). Fourth one is the runner up or favorite well its pretty much tied with the first one no complaints. Fifth one I don't like the neck line maybe just simply and do a straight black line, not to into the feathers on the shoulder, personally I'd do the straight black line.
I kinda feel like I was negative toward this piece, but honestly I really like it as a hole. I love the shoes and I love that how you incorporated some the purse and the bracelet. Okay there is my critique.
And for the inspiration, the ocean, a beach, geometric shapes, a city (wait you did that already) Alright thanks for reading hope you fine my advice useful.
